Case management, provision of direct treatment service, and community outreach with criminal justice-involved individuals with co-occurring substance use (specifically Opioid Use Disorder) and mental health problems in the MISSION-CJ (Maintaining Independence and Sobriety through Systems Integration, Outreach, and Networking Criminal Justice Edition) program.

This will consist of meetings with clients to discuss their needs in the community (e.g., connecting them with mental health and substance use services, recreational opportunities, self-help groups, transportation resources, etc.) and providing evidence based individual and group treatment, Dual Recovery Therapy. The incumbent will also provide vocational/educational support to help clients maintain employment and find new employment/educational opportunities and assess for trauma and refer out for trauma specific treatment as needed.  The incumbent will be required to provide pre-release services within a correctional institution and post release services within the community and work with criminal justice entities (e.g., probation, parole, courts) to support clients in reducing recidivism over time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide case management, treatment, and community outreach services to criminal justice involved individuals diagnosed with co-occurring substance use and mental health issues (CODs) pre and post release
  2. Conduct eligibility screenings and comprehensive intake and follow up assessments to assess eligibility, gather clinical information, and develop a treatment plan
  3. Provide services to a caseload of up to 15-20 clients at any given time
  4. Deliver an evidence-based COD intervention, MISSION-CJ, and wrap around support
  5. Build working relationships with agencies and organizations in support of clients' recovery to facilitate referrals and care coordination
  6. Document service delivery activities according to the program's standards
  7. Work closely within a clinical team which includes a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) to coordinate services
  8. Facilitate group and individual psycho-educational/treatment sessions (i.e. Dual Recovery Therapy sessions) with clients
  9. Conduct home and/or in-community visits to engage MISSION-CJ clients
  10. Participate in MISSION-CJ, COD and other relevant training to inform use and implementation of evidence based recovery oriented practices
  11. Transport MISSION clients to in-community meetings, events and appointments
  12. Crisis management (as needed)

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years' experience working with clients with CODs.
  2. Or Master's degree in clinical/counseling/education psychology or social work with one-year experience working with clients with CODs.
  3. Experience working with clients with COD in criminal justice settings.
